The main topics of the workshop:
- Models used in research on biological activity of phytochemicals
- examples and critical evaluation;
- Ethical aspects in biological research;
- Biological activity of phytochemicals, from scientific interest
in studying to potential health effects.
|
|
Invitation The Division of Food Science of IARFR of the Polish Academy of
Sciences, the EU-recognised Centre of Excellence in Food and Health
(http://www.pan.olsztyn.pl/),
extends a cordial invitation to attend WORKSHOP which will address
Ethical and Methodological Aspects of Phytochemicals Biological
Activity Estimation. The workshop will take place in Olsztyn - Poland
from Thursday afternoon, 12th June, to Saturday, 14th June, 2003.
|
|
Background To facilitate discussion and information
exchange, the conference will be held in the suburbs of Olsztyn
at Hotel Park (http://www.euroinfo.com.pl/hotels/parkolsz.htm).
The workshop was made possible through the support of the European
Commission as a part of Horizontal INCO programme dedicated to
Centres of Excellence in the EU Newly Associated States.
|
|
Aims and scope of the meeting The workshop is aimed
at addressing important issues relating phytochemicals research
to biological systems with consideration of its ethical aspects.
It will reflect the potential importance of phytochemicals action
in health. One of the roles of CENEXFOOD is knowledge transfer,
therefore the workshop will be a platform for discussion and exchange
of information among the recognised researchers in this field. Active
involvement of young researchers and students in this workshop will
be encouraged.
|
|
Who should attend All interested in the broad field
of research on phytochemicals in its widest sense: food chemists,
food technologists, specialists in human nutrition and the medical
field, as well as researchers concerned about ethical issues in
biological research. Opportunities to discuss contemporary trends
in this field of scientific activity are guaranteed as well as setting
up new contacts for prospective consortia formation/joining to apply
for European Commission FPVI projects.
|
|

Posters presentations Authors
who would like to present a poster (115 x 115 cm) are asked to complete
the attached reply-slip, provide an abstract (100-150 words) and return
them to the Workshop Secretary by 30th April 2003. The abstract should include
the title of the contribution, names and addresses of the authors (corresponding
author underlined), the objectives and main results of the research;
such information will help the Programme Committee to prepare detailed
programme of the workshop.
