Antonio M. Galvao publically defended his PhD

tn a_galvaoOn December 2nd, 2011 António M. Galvão presented and publically defended his PhD Thesis entitled: “New insights in the immune-endocrine regulation of equine reproduction: in vitro studies on endometrial and luteal function.” The event took place at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Technical University of Lisbon, with a committee composed by: Professor Dariusz J. Skarzynski (our Institute), Professor António Rocha (University of Porto, Abel Salazar Biomedical Institute), Professor António Freitas Duarte (Technical University of Lisbon, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine), Professor Luisa Maria Freire Mateus (Technical University of Lisbon, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine) and Professor Graça Ferreira Dias (Technical University of Lisbon, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine). Dr. Galvão obtained the European PhD degree with the highs mark (Very Good with distinction).

A big part of the research work undertaken during Dr. Galvão during his PhD was performed at the Department of Reproductive Immunology and Pathology of our Institute, where in 4-years of doctoral program a total of 22 months were spent at our Institute. Another success of our former PhD student was the recent 1st position rank in the Portuguese national application for the postDoc grant competition from governmental institution Foundation for Science and Technology (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, FCT). In the next three years, Dr. António M. Galvão will carry out in our Institute and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Lisbon the  project entitled: " Unraveling novel signaling pathways that control corpus luteum function: a possible new approach on infertility treatment" (SFRH/BPD/79001/2011).
