Dominika’s short-term visit was devoted to the process of acquiring expertise in the operation of a sophisticated lab facility - colonic model (GUT model) imitating human colonic ecosystem. She carried out some experiments with the use of a continuous gut model that was expected to give answers concerning the general impact of substrates examined on the composition and fermentative activity of intestinal microbiota. In addition, it provided detailed information regarding  the diversification of microflora and its metabolic activity in each analyzed intestinal niches (various parts of the colon). The short-term visit contributed to the advance in her career through the acquisition of new skills (operation of the gut system), enhancement of individual competences and attaining a leading position in terms of studies using gut in vitro models. The stay took place between 18.11.2011 - 24.11.2011.
